  • Blackburn Correctional Complex -Nursing supervisor- As a correctional nurse and supervisor I have a wide range of nursing duties. In a job where we do not have a provider on campus most of the time, my critical thinking skills/nursing skills have to be first and foremost at all times being that I am the eyes and ears for the provider. I work side by side with the nursing staff for the best outcome for the department and the patients. I perform sick call and have to use critical thinking of what is going on systemically with the patient, follow protocols, draw labs, medicate, perform wound care, and communicate between patient and provider. I also make nursing schedule, perform CQI’s, approve time cards, train new nurses and make sure the department is running as smooth as possible.
