SPC Smith, Austin 68W at the 198th Military Police Battalion, 223rd Military Police Company. I am a new, but hungry, combat medic looking for new opportunities in the National Guard. Born in Louisville, KY, I joined the Marines in 2018 from my hometown right out of high school. After my five years as an Infantryman with the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, 1st Battalion 6th Marine Regiment, and the 3rd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment I did an interservice transfer to the Kentucky National Guard where I was looking for more. After talking to other peers I found that becoming a 68W was the right decision for me and I made the switch. After being awarded my EMT-B National Registry and MOS of 68W Healthcare Specialist, I came back to my unit looking for an opportunity to put to use in my new skills.
I have three deployments to Cuba and Japan spanning roughly 21 months, and conducted some force on force training with the French Foreign Legion and Japan Ground Self Defense Force.
Army awards include 2 AAMs, 1 Certificate of Achievement, 1 Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, 1 National Defense Service Medal, 1 GWOT Medal, and 3 Navy Sea Service deployment Ribbons.
I am currently deciding whether to go to school for nursing to go to an ER or going to paramedic school and becoming a SWAT paramedic.
