As the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for CLARK, I am tasked with being the leader of all EHS related activities throughout the facility. Some responsibilities include:

• Provided new-employee health and safety orientations and developed materials for presentations.

• I began a job at Hendrickson International in Somerset Kentucky as a Safety Co-Op in January of 2024. Hendrickson is a manufacturing company that produces axles and brake systems for tractor trailers. As a safety co-op, it is my responsibility to assist the EHS representative in activities at the plant regarding employee health and safety. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Performing inspections of facilities to ensure no safety concerns or violations
• Helping facilitate incident investigation activities
• Coordinating and leading the internal Safety Committee at Hendrickson
• Coordinating and leading the PIT team, which is a facility improvement based team
• Ensuring employees are always equipped with the proper PPE while performing work tasks
• Developing ways to promote a culture of safety with operators, supervisors, and management
• Creating and implementing health and safety guidelines and supporting documentation
• Helping perform and develop safety trainings and alerts throughout the facility
• Participate in weekly meetings with senior management team members discussing progress towards goals set forth
• Researched current technologies that can be used to improve existing processes or create new ones
• Collaborated with internal departments to ensure successful implementation of projects within budget and timeline constraints

• As the EHSS Technician, I held responsibilities for ensuring compliance throughout the facility with health and safety and environmental permits. The facility owns and operates a soybean crush plant and biodiesel production plant. Our main products were soybean meal (animal feed) and Biodiesel fuel. This positions responsibilities included, but was not limited to:
• Creating, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures regarding Environmental Health and Safety
• Assisting in permit related activities such as updating and renewing our Kentucky Department of Waste, Kentucky Department of Air, and Kentucky Department of Water permits
• Recordkeeping to ensure compliance with our various permits and guidelines regarding DEP and OSHA requirements
• Performing audits and inspections in various areas throughout the property
• Facilitating incident investigation procedures in a timely manner
• Submitting annual reports to the state departments such as Waste Annual report and Assessment, Waste registration, Emissions reports, water quality and BMP reports, etc.

• As an Environmental Scientist II for AECOM, I worked with a team to complete operations in projects regarding environmental sampling and analysis. This career was predominantly field work, data collection, and recordkeeping. This included responsibilities such as;
• Environmental sampling and analysis
• Working with a team to ensure proper procedures are followed
• Ensuring compliance throughout the project with OSHA and EPA guidelines
• Updating site-specific safety work plans
• Working with the project manager to improve policies and procedures to create a more efficient work environment and operation
• Ensuring good client relationships throughout projects with various clients
• Working with a team to make sure the best practices are utilized and the projects were completed efficiently

• I have worked for Jones Electric Inc on and off since 2011. I worked with Jones Electric Inc during summers of high school and college, and full time from May 2019 - February 2020.
• Assisting a master electrician in installing electrical wiring systems in residential, industrial, and commercial projects
• Creating an employee health and safety and hazard communication program
• Creating and performing trainings for employees regarding job site safety
• Creating site specific safety trainings and safety programs for each job
• Routing wire throughout the building, ensuring the correct type of wire is used and secured according to National Electrical Code standards

• Troubleshooting issues to find solutions while ensuring compliance with necessary safety and
• Performing work with power tools, hand tools, and heavy lifting was involved in day to day processes.

• I was privileged to be selected to perform a research project at the University of Kentucky. I decided to focus on the behavior of nitrogen adsorption in clay soils for my project. This involved developing a hypothesis and developing a plan and procedure to determine results and deliverables. This involved retrieving soil samples by collecting and drying soil samples from various areas in Fayette county. I also planned an experiment that would allow us to view the rate of nitrogen adsorption. I learned about lab procedure, soil science experimental data, and lab safety throughout with the help of a principal investigator. I found deliverable data by using post experimental samples in colorimetry to determine concentrations of nitrogen still suspended in the solution. Using data given and experimental measures, I found deliverables that would explain or disprove my hypothesis. I presented the findings in a research article. With these findings, I then created a presentation for peers and research faculty at the university. This experience taught me alot about troubleshooting, conflict resolution, and patience. I believe although it did not involve alot of EHS related work, it gave me key insights on areas that benefit me today within this career field.
