- I was fortunate to be chosen to attend the University of Kentucky Area Health
Education Center Medical Camp the summer before my Junior year. I attended a three-week
program where I was emerged into the new innovations of the healthcare world. I was one of
20 individuals chosen from the Commonwealth to be chosen for this incredible camp as well as
the only applicant from my school system selected. I learned a variety of new skills including
becoming licensed in CPR, suturing small wounds, and correct procedures for trauma
circumstances. I was exposed to a variety of specialties throughout the medical field and
observed firsthand how the intricacies of staff management can be a significant part of the
hospital’s responsibilities.
