  • Facilitated hands-on training sessions utilizing PW and CW ultrasound equipment for practical skill development.
  • Students are taught about the hemodynamics and physiology of flow and how to take what they know and apply it to obtaining optimized, diagnostic images in the lab to depict both normal and abnormal findings. This includes imaging cerebrovascular duplex exams, upper and lower extremity arterial and venous duplex exams, aortoiliac exams, hepatoportal exams, celiac and mesenteric duplex exams, and renal artery duplex exams. They are taught how to optimize images and given time in the lab with hands on training using both PW imaging machines as well as with a CW arterial Doppler machine.
  • Guidance given with examples of normal vs. abnormal preliminary reports on how to write up their own based upon their findings.
  • Instruction given on how to image abnormalities and post interventions such as, but not limited to, atherosclerotic disease, venous thrombosis, endoleaks, aneurysmal disease, psuedoaneurysms, arterial dissections, occlusion, bypass grafts and stents, renal transplants, and hemodialysis fistulas and grafts.
  • Instruction is given on recognizing incidental findings such as thyroid nodules, baker's cysts, and abnormal echogenicity within the liver and kidneys.
  • I also teach the ultrasound physic class and lead reviews to assist students as they prepare to pass their SPI board exam.
