As an intern with the Douglas County Sheriffs office I was given the opportunity to spend time in each part of the legal system. From Dispatch all the way to the court room. I enjoyed my time in each step equally learning what each department did and their impact on the system. I chose to finish out my internship in the correctional facility. I really enjoyed my time there seeing how the pods ran and how to police inmates. I spent time in the mental health pod and the female pod. I learned a lot from the deputies that I worked with in that unit and how they handled the inmates who were more challenging then regular inmates. I spent a total of 8 weeks interning within the jail.
