Organized a solo research project at the Balule Nature Reserve, the largest privately owned reserve, in South Africa.

Designed and implemented a study on the effect bush squirrels have on native Marula Tree reproduction.

Worked in a classroom setting with non-english speaking children ages 5-10 and educated them in the importance of wildlife conservation.

Collected data daily using camera trap information and metal detectors to locate marked Marula seeds within the reserve.

Analyzed the data and then authored a Thesis at Western Kentucky University.

Worked with other volunteers and employees that came from a diverse variety of countries, cultures, and backgrounds.

Worked on electric fence repairs. Fifteen foot fences surround the reserve to keep poachers out and wildlife in.

Tracked rhino populations across the reserve using telemetry technology. Noted GPS coordinates and helped employees put them onto a heat map to allow anti-poaching teams to protect the species.

Eliminated invasive plant species within the reserve by conducting environmental field surveys in the bush. Plants were eliminated using backpacks containing weed killer. Noted GPS coordinates.

Tracked elephant populations across the reserve. Took photographs to put into a database for specific animal identification.

Organized camera trap data into species. Data was entered into an excel spreadsheet and then analyzed. The data was collected by myself and the Rhino team every day and then was used in my thesis to determine the time of day a specific species of animal was most likely to be located at a watering hole. This was then used to help the anti poaching teams.
