I cared for patients that were there for strokes or had received TKN, organ transplant patients that require anti-rejection meds, peritoneal dialysis, and patients that need closer observation but not as critical as ICU.
I was an administrative RN with the generalist physicians. I took care of obtaining patient OB history and scheduling patients for their first prenatal visits. I also helped facilitate appointments with transfer of care patients from The Family Health Centers. I took care of patient triage calls and patient request.
Provided couplet care to moms and babies. I got patients from L/D that were cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries. I assessed newborns and cared for them along with the nursery nurses. I monitored and assessed the mom frequently to ensure that she had a safe postpartum course.
I worked as charge nurse and relief charge as well. I was a preceptor for new graduate nurses, and I took on multiple nursing school students. I participated in a new graduate residency when I was a new graduate nurse. Patient ratio was 2:1 and the acuity was very high. I collaborated with physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses to ensure patient safety and effective treatment.
