I have years of management, leadership experience across a multitude of industries, including agricultural, utility, civil, and industrial. I have reached my current level of success through taking ownership in everything I do, having the tenacity and grit to see a project through, and the creativity and boldness to strike against the grain to succeed. This is the only way that I have found to ensure a proper return on investment, and to exceed any expectations one may place upon me.
I was brought in to not only manage residential home construction, but also to be instrumental in the rehabilitation and restarting of the Bowling Green, KY, office. Finding myself in more of an overall leadership position, scheduling and time management have been critical when sorting out the day-to-day, which often includes sales consultations, site evaluations, interviewing potential sales and production candidates, all while building homes at the same time. What stands out to me in my time with America's Home Place is that, although each and every day has its own set of challenges, I know for a fact that I have an entire AHP family to lean on for support. With my love of a good challenge, grit to push on through any setbacks, and ability to continually build the best team that I possibly can, I know that the Bowling Green Office can and will be reborn as a top producer across the entirety of AHP.
Once the decision was made to move my previous project manager position, I went back to what I know. Within weeks of the finalization of my newly formed LLC, we had already begun the site work for multiple residential developments within the Hartford-Beaver Dam, KY, area, while also including commercial projects such as county road building, grading, and drainage solutions. While we have found success, I was ready to take a backseat to company ownership in favor of a more predictable and manageable position, where I could aid a company and its employees with years of experience as an operator, leader, and a teacher.
In my role as a project manager and estimator, it was my responsibility to sort through projects throughout the United States, ranging from a low of $25,000,000 to more than $200,000,000. Once a list was compiled, I completed a full breakdown of project costs with great detail and compiled them into a report. Upon a winning bid, I assumed full control of the won contract, managing all aspects of a construction project, including superintendents, foremen, general labor, transportation, and materials. Each project was seen through, from the initial project plans to project completion, to ensure the budget was strictly adhered to.
With the vast majority of projects located along the East Coast, this position was decidedly moved to Northern Virginia, and with two small children, I was not in a position to uproot my family.
I was brought in as an assistant department manager. In five months' time, I was promoted to Manufacturing Process Manager. In this role, along with a host of other responsibilities, including:
I was a collaborative team member in the ground-up construction of an entirely new processing department, and I continued this role when it came to policy, procedure, and engineering creations and their implementations. I conducted business with partnering departments between the U.S. and Sweden to create a uniform model for work.
I began as a journeyman equipment operator during the pandemic, when work slowed down as a contractor. I worked primarily in agricultural, environmental remediation, mining operations, and power plant operations. Within the first year, I became an acting leading foreman, collaboratively overseeing large-scale operations of strip-mining areas and crusher plants. I coordinated with machine operators, ground personnel, vendors, potential customers, and onsite environmental/safety officers to ensure a smoothly functioning, ecologically sustainable, and, beyond anything else, safe working environment.
As the owner, I oversaw:
Pricing structures were put in place according to market analytics and emerging trends within my area, and I became a master at juggling multiple projects and tasks to ensure that each was completed to the client’s satisfaction and in a timely manner. I learned a great deal about B2B sales, lead generation, and closing throughout the process of growing my business and retaining a customer base. Work primarily consisted of in-ground utilities, from water to electric, with a portfolio of work as a general contracting apparatus as well, overseeing multiple contractors, project planning, AutoCAD drawings, Trimble GPS systems, and materials take-offs and estimation.
