· Perform supervisory responsibilities as described in Supervisory Responsibility section below.
· Serve as subject matter expert and spokesperson for the department(s) supervised, as needed for press interviews and other presentations.
· Provides direction regarding nursing policies, procedures and issues related to school health nurses.
· Participates in protocol development and implementation related to school health nursing of local, regional and state plans.
· Manages school health leadership staff, to accomplish the objectives outlined in the FCPS contract.
· Oversees Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement projects related to school health, including conducting QA chart audits.
· Recruits, hires, orients, counsels, and evaluates those under direct supervision.
· Identifies program goals and monitors program quality and metrics.
· Directs the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of school health programs.
· Engages in problem resolution with health department staff and clients to address areas for improvement.
· In collaboration with the Billing supervisor, plans the continuation of Medicaid billing process for School Health.
· Develops and maintains an effective staffing pattern, within available resources, to provide optimum, effective delivery of program services. May provide school coverage during vacancies.
· Leads team of nurses in providing fluoride varnish application in FCPS elementary schools.
· Prepares and manages annual and mid-year budget for School Health, while continuously monitoring revenue and expenses.
· Advises school health leadership in program planning, staffing, and problem solving.
· Manages issues relating to employees’ morale, performance appraisals, and disciplinary action.
· Facilitates communication to, from, and within the school health program.
· Actively participates in community and agency committees while representing the agency.
· Acting as liaison, cultivates and grows relationship with FCPS school officials.
· Assists in the coordination of agency emergency response and other activities with agency divisions as appropriate.
· Assists staff with moving forward with development, implementation, monitoring and achievement of program strategic plans.
· Develops performance standards for direct report staff; assures and assists with development of standards for indirect reports.
Responsible for meeting contract deliverables. Manages, reviews, and revises school health contract as needed, for implementation of services.
